Rohtak: Extending full support to ‘Kisan Andolan’ led by farm unions carrying out agitation on Delhi border, Indian Kabaddi team coach Ashan Sangwan threatened to return his Arjuna award if the government failed to listen to protesting farmers.

Addressing the media in Bhiwani on Monday, Sangwan who was bestowed the Bhim award in 1994 and Arjuna award in 1998, said that he owes moral responsibility towards farmers as he also belongs to a rural background.

“Most of the sportspersons from Haryana come from modest farming backgrounds. They all feel that they should support farmers who are protesting to repeal three agri bills”, Sangwan added.

He said that when farmers do not want three agri bills the government should not force its ways to impose the laws on them.

He threatened that at least 10 of the Arjuna awardees including him would return their awards to the centre government, if it failed to address the concerns of farmers within a week.
