Haryana Home Minister, Mr. Anil Vij said that the State has seen a drop of six percent in crime graph in the first 9 months of 2020 in comparison to the same period of 2019.
Mr. Vij said that 96672 cases were registered between January and September 2020 as compared to 102831 cases during the first 9 months of 2019. He said that Congress spokesperson, Mr. Randeep Singh Surjewala has always been Tweeting that the graph of crime is increasing in Haryana but he should understand that the crime graph has dropped rapidly in the state. There has been a decrease in cases of heinous crimes including murder, crimes against women, robbery, dacoity, kidnapping for extortion this year, as compared to last year. Not only this, there was also a decrease in crime in 2019 in comparison to 2018.
The Home Minister said that the state has registered a 17 percent decrease in crime against women while around 88 percent cases of murder have been traced out. Similarly, the number of rape cases has been decreased by 13.57 percent this year and more than 93 percent rape cases have been solved. The kidnapping incidents in the state have come down by 20.73 percent.
Mr. Vij said that during the same period, an impressive decline has been witnessed in the cases of road accident in the state due to the effective vigilance of the Police Department. The number of road accidents have dropped by 20.23 percent.
He said that under the NDPS Act, a total of 2240 cases were registered with the recovery of 339 kg of opium, 208 kg of charas, 7319 kg of ganja, 10130 kg of poppy husk, 31 kg of heroin, and 11 kg of smack. In addition, the police have recovered 1241 pistols, 37 revolvers, and 2463 cartridges.
He said that from January to September, the police have busted 198 criminal gangs and arrested 182 most wanted criminals. Also, 2806 missing persons have been recovered and handed over to their parents and shelter homes.
Mr. Vij appreciated the work done by the police during the Corona period, saying that the force has set an example of humanity by putting brakes on crime graph. He said that 2124 policemen got corona infected while 6 personnel died while battling the epidemic.
Speaking on this occasion, DGP Haryana, Mr. Manoj Yadava said that increased patrolling and vigilant surveillance of policemen in the state has helped in bringing down the crime graph to a great extent. We are continuously getting success in curbing crime. Enhanced patrolling and close monitoring have helped to bring down the crime rate in first 9 months as a dip has been seen in murder, dacoity, and robbery.

Akil, Managing Director, Haryana Police Housing Corporation, Dr. RC Mishra, Additional Director Generals of Police, Mr. Alok Roy, Mr. Navdeep Singh Virk, Mrs. Kala Ramchandran, Commissioner of Police, Panchkula, Mr. Saurabh Singh and a number of senior officers of the police department were also present on this occasion.
