COVID-19: Death toll up in Rohtak- Hisar

Rohtak: 46 in Ten Days

Forty six patients who were admitted at PGIMS Rohtak COVID hospital died due to coronavirus during Diwali festival from November 10 to November 19. Sharing the details by Dr. Gajender Singh, Public Relation Officer at PGIMS Rohtak said that in the last nine days, the death figure has alarmingly touched 46 numbers. He said that COVID-19 has again spread its tentacles while the people are not taking it seriously which was ultimately taking on their health. On the break-up of COVID-19 patients deaths, PGIMS Rohtak officer said that on November 10, five patients died due to COVID-19 at PGIMS Rohtak. Similarly, on November 11, eight infected patients died, on November 12, seven patients died, on November 13, six patients died, on November 14, eight patients died, on November 15, five patients. Rest, seven patients died in between November 16 to 19. Dr. Gajender said that COVID-19 test was done on 3116 persons in the last one week at PGIMS Rohtak and of them 570 were confirmed of infection. The patients who died here were from different districts of the state. Dr. O.P Kalra, Vice-Chancellor at University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, said that till the vaccine comes into market, people need to remain vigilant and use masks while going out and take precautions pertaining to their health. On the deaths, Dr. Kalra said that the premier institute gets infected patients who were in serious health condition and the doctors at the hospital tried their level best to save their lives.

Hisar: 100 Deaths in 35 Days

Hisar witnessed 100 deaths due to Covid-19 in the last 35 days, indicating a higher mortality rate as compared to state’s worst-affected districts of Faridabad and Gurugram.

The first Covid death was reported in Hisar on June 11. The number of casualties touched 100 on October 16. Since then there has been a sharp upswing with the toll touching 200 on Friday.

The total number of deaths is higher in Faridabad (290) and Gurugram (256), considered Covid hotspots in the state. But in the last 35 days, Hisar witnessed 100 deaths, Gurugram 66 and Faridabad 52.

Hisar also saw a high number of cases in the last about one month. With a total of 14,342 cases as on November 20, the district stands third in the state after Gurugram (42,632) and Faridabad (35,613). It was previously at number 9 with 7,950 cases as on October 16.

A Civil Hospital official claims that a number of ventilators are lying defunct in the hospital. “The doctors and paramedics are finding it difficult to manage Covid wards. Patients often complain of negligence on part of the staff,” the official said. Priyanka Soni, DC, however, claimed that there was no shortage of ventilators and other facilities.
