Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Haryana and said even elected representatives are not safe under the BJP-JJP government in the state. Hooda said the death of Harish Sharma is a clear example of where the state is headed.
Hooda offered his condolences and comforted Harish Sharma’s family and said that as a public representative, Harish had raised people’s voice, which was his duty. Hooda demanded the state government to give government job to the family of Harish Sharma and take immediate action against the culprits.
Speaking to reporters in Panipat, Hooda questioned the law and order of the state, saying that Haryana had become one of the states with the highest unemployment in the country, but now the way the crime graph is going up, it is clear to everyone that Haryana will soon become number one in crime too. “Today there are about three to four murders, 10 kidnappings and five to six rapes incidents in Haryana daily,” he said, highlighting the rising crime graph in the state.
Hooda also expressed concern over the rising trend of liquor and drug abuse and said questions have come up as 50 people have been killed in Sonepat and Panipat after drinking spurious liquor. According to NCRB figures, 162 people died due to poisonous liquor, while 86 people died due to drug overdose in 2018. NDPS cases were also the highest in Haryana during this period.
Hooda also expressed his condolences and mourned the death of former state Youth Congress president Sanjay Chaukkar’s son, upon reaching his residence in Samalkha, district Panipat.
