‘5 Lakh Advance money for Olympic and para-Olympic Players’

Keeping this problem of the players in mind, Chief Minister Manohar Lal has approved the scheme of giving five lakh rupees as advance incentive to the players who have qualified in the Olympics and Paralympics on the demand of the Sports Department.

Chandigarh: Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Sandeep Singh said that there is a good news for the players of the state.

The government is regularly working on various schemes to encourage sportspersons in the state.

An Advance amount of 5 lakh rupees will be given to the selected player out of the total amount of 15 lakhs fixed by the government in Olympic and Paralympic.

The remaining balance will be released later as per rules.

There is also great enthusiasm among the players preparing for the Olympics to be held in 2021, after the proposal was approved by Chief Minister Manohar Lal on the demand of the State Sports Department.

Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Sandeep Singh on Saturday thanked Chief Minister Manohar Lal and said that before this, after the Olympics and Paralympics, the players used to be given incentive amount of Rs 15 lakh.

While the players preparing for the Olympics and Paralympics remain in great need at the time of preparing the incentive.

At such a time, for preparation, the player needs diet and many other things that costs a lot.

Keeping this problem of the players in mind, Chief Minister Manohar Lal has approved the scheme of giving five lakh rupees as advance incentive to the players who have qualified in the Olympics and Paralympics on the demand of the Sports Department.

While the outstanding amount will be made available to them after playing the Olympics.

Sports Minister said that before ‘Khelo India’ next year, the government is going to bring many other new schemes for the players for the state players to shape their future.

Sportsperson of the state is the assets of the country, the Sports Minister said that the players of the state should prepare themselves for the Olympics and Paralympics and start practicing vigorously so that they can be selected on the basis of their merit.

All the players during the Olympics and Paralympic preparations will maintain social distance, use masks and wash hands repeatedly with soap as well as sanitize as per the guidelines of COVID-19.

The government has decided that the amount of Rs 5 lakh will be released immediately in advance as soon as the player is selected for the Olympics and Paralympics.

In this way, the name of the player will be available in advance for preparation of Rs 5 lakh as soon as it comes in the list of Olympics and Paralympics. The government has taken this decision keeping the interest of the players in mind.

According to the sports policy of the incumbent government, an amount of Rs. 6 crore is fixed for winning gold medal in Olympics, Rs. 4 crore for winning silver medal, Rs. 2.5 crore for winning bronze medal and Rs. 15 lakh for participation.

Out of this participation amount, advance amount of 5 lakhs will be released after deciding the name of the player for Olympic and Paralympic.

The Minister said that the web portal is being made by the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs to apply online for various welfare schemes being run for sportspersons.

With this, players will also be able to apply for scholarships, stipends and cash awards. Through this portal, many facilities like tournament management system, resource mapping system, inventory management system will be available.

During the lockdown in the state, the players were trained to improve their weaknesses through WhatsApp, Facebook and YouTube.

He said that Haryana has always performed well under the ‘Khelo India’ program.

The state remained the overall champion in the year 2017 and finished second in the year 2018 and 2019 and it is expected that the state will continue its best performance in the Games.
